After her Academy Award-nominated turn as disgraced American figure skater Tonya Harding in I Tonya, Margot Robbie takes on the noir-thriller genre with Terminal. The trailer was released on Thursday.
While I, Tonya was a gritty black comedy rooted in bare-knuckled realism, Terminal is a zany crime drama featuring an ensemble cast headlined by Robbie. The trailer features a mix of unusual characters, moderate violence, film noir aesthetics and high-contrast neon-heavy cinematography.
“Blessed me father for I have sinned”, says Robbie’s character Annie at the start of the trailer. Annie has revenge on her mind and an “unquenchable blood lust for darkness’, she declares.
Terminal takes place in a sprawling, unnamed city and revolves around a few disparate characters, including a couple of assassins on a dangerous mission, a teacher battling a fatal illness, a mysterious janitor and a waitress with a secret. Besides Robbie, Terminal stars Simon Pegg, Dexter Fletcher, Max Irons and Mike Myers. The film is scheduled to be released on May 11.
Terminal is Vaughn Stein’s debut feature as writer and director. The movie also marks Robbie’s second production after I, Tonya. Terminal will be released on May 11 in the US.
