Central Board of Secondary Education Chairperson Anita Karwal said on Thursday that the board would soon announce the dates for the two exams that would be conducted afresh after the question papers were leaked.

Hours after several students protested at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, Karwal said the decision to conduct the Class 10 mathematics and Class 12 economics exams once again was in favour of students, PTI reported.

“We have taken the decision in favour of the students and in utmost fairness,” Karwal said. “Students don’t have to worry about anything. We are with them. Our future decisions will also be in their favour.”

The Class 12 economics exam was held on Monday, and the Class 10 maths paper was conducted on Wednesday. However, hours after the maths paper, the CBSE said it would conduct the two tests again after reports said the question papers were leaked.

Earlier, the CBSE had said it had made the decision “with the view to uphold the sanctity of the board examinations and in the interest of fairness to the students”. A few school principals told Scroll.in that the re-tests will most likely be held after the last board exam on April 12.
