The Maharashtra Police on Wednesday arrested a woman in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a minor girl in Palghar district’s Nala Sopara area, PTI reported. A five-year-old girl was found dead in a womens’ toilet at the Navsari railway station in Gujarat on Tuesday.
The police had prepared a sketch of the accused based on the closed-circuit television camera footage from a traffic signal in the area from where the girl was abducted. Additional Superintendent of Police Raj Tilak Roshan claimed that the police arrested Anita Waghle on Tuesday night after which she confessed to the crime.
The woman had been in a relationship with the victim’s father, but after he delayed in deciding on their marriage, she killed his daughter, the police have claimed.
The Navsari police had registered a case of an accidental death, however, after the autopsy report revealed that the girl was strangulated, they filed a murder case, PTI reported.
