The police arrested four men on Tuesday night for allegedly hacking into the systems of the Staff Selection Commission and leaking an exam question paper, The Hindu reported. The Uttar Pradesh and Delhi Police arrested them in a joint operation in the Timarpur locality of the national Capital.
The police seized a laptop, 10 mobile phones, three cars, dongles, documents and cash worth around Rs 51 lakh from the four men.
The men had allegedly hired 150 people to hack into the data entry operator exam held by the Staff Selection Commission, access the question papers and solve them, the police said. They allegedly charged each candidate they helped Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh, NDTV reported.
The police have filed a case against the men under the Information Technology Act. An investigation is under way.
The arrests came weeks after thousands of government job aspirants held protests against alleged “mass cheating” in examinations conducted by the Staff Selection Commission. They alleged that the questions for an examination conducted on February 21 were leaked. The government has ordered an inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation in the case.
The commission conducts exams for recruitment to the central government.
