A parliamentary panel recently in a report stated that the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) should make sure that the examinations for all government jobs are free of any malpractices so as to maintain the sanctity of government jobs.

The report tabled by Parliamentary Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice viewed that the cancelation of examinations by the Commission wasted a lot of resources of both the aspirants and the government, and also compromises on the image of the Commission.

The report said that on one hand the government departments have to wait to get suitable recruitment for the vacancies and is a complete waste of time and money for the Commission; and on the other hand the aspirants waste time and effort preparing for the examinations.

The report also noted that since all the examinations have gone online and some private entities need to be roped in, the Commission should closely monitor these entities and adequate number of central government employees need to be deployed at the examination centres.

The Commission should also learn from its past experience to make the process free of malpractices and glitches, the report said.

The report comes in the light of allegations of leak of Combined Graduate Level (CGL) 2017 examination for which Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has started a preliminary enquiry on. The Commission has cancelled nine examinations for various reasons in the past 5 years.
