Security forces in Kashmir’s Budgam district killed a militant in a gunfight early on Sunday, PTI reported.
An official said the police acted on specific information about militants being in the Khan Mohalla area of the district, and began a search operation on Saturday night. In a bid to escape, the militants came out of a house and began firing at the security personnel, the official told PTI.
“In retaliation, one unknown terrorist has been neutralised. His identity and affiliation are being ascertained, a police spokesperson told the Hindustan Times. “Arms and ammunition have been recovered.” It is unclear how many militants were at the house.
A woman was injured in the crossfire, the police said. She is in hospital and her condition was reported to be stable, according to PTI .
