A picture of newly-appointed Tehreek-e-Hurriyat chairman’s son, who has been missing since Friday, has emerged on social media showing him holding a rifle on Saturday. The message along with the picture says that Junaid Ashraf Khan, son of Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, has joined the Hizbul Mujahideen.
Khan’s family said he had left home for Friday prayers but has not return since. He lived in Srinagar’s Baghat area. “The family has lodged a missing report with us,” the Greater Kashmir quoted an unidentified police official as saying. “His brother Rashid Ashraf Khan arrived at the police station today afternoon. He told us that his brother Khan is missing since yesterday.”
On March 19, Sehrai, a long-time lieutenant of Syed Ali Shah Geelani, took over as the chairperson of the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat. Sehrai was earlier the organisation’s general secretary.
