The mystery of why musicians name themselves the way they do is an abiding one. Look no further than Yo Yo Honey Singh, Dhinchak Pooja and, now, Lil Golu.
The last named is making a reputation for himself with music featuring deliberately unsynchronised, unrhythmic beats. The “rapper”, for want of a better word, combines these with copious sexism to add to the growing genre of cringeworthy music.
He’s almost too bad to be true.
Now, Lil Golu isn’t completely lacking in credibility. He has, in fact, collaborated with artists like Honey Singh (of course) and Jazzy B, and done some popular work in Bollywood, too. You might recognise songs like Manali Trance, Blue Eyes, and Issey Kehte Hai Hip-Hop. Well, all of these featured Lil Golu.
