A 21-year-old man told police in Mumbai on Thursday that he slit his friend’s throat and stabbed him 54 times because he used to mock him for being uneducated, the Hindustan Times reported.
After killing his friend Afroz Alam Shaikh, Mohammed Amir Abdul Wahid Rahin walked into the Shahu Nagar police station around 1 am on Thursday to confess, the police said. Rahin then took the policemen to an isolated spot near Raheja bridge in Mahim where Shaikh’s body was found.
He told police that Shaikh would speak to him only in English to tease him. The constant teasing angered him, he said, adding that he had planned the murder for a week. He was waiting for the right time and location, DB Thorat, the senior inspector at the police station told the Hindustan Times.
Rahin took Shaikh to Bandra on Wednesday night, where they bought beer. When Shaikh went to use the toilet, Rahin followed him and slit his throat with a knife. After he fell, Rahin stabbed him 54 times, Thorat said. Doctors declared Shaikh brought dead to the hospital.
