Video footage from South Asia Pakistan Terminals (SAPT) was released recently, showing a cargo ship from a German company, Hapag-Lloyd, crashing into another one docked at a Karachi port, leading to a disastrous outcome.
A huge number of shipping containers plunged into the sea as workers watched helplessly. While it’s not exactly known what led to the collision, Geo.tv reported that the two ships and several shipping containers that were carrying imported cars and other freight were damaged in the process..
Karachi port is an extremely busy deep-water seaport and takes care of around 60% of Pakistan’s cargo.
