India’s women’s 10m Air Rifle squad bagged a team gold and two individuals medals at the World University Shooting Championship in Malaysia on Friday.
The team comprising Elavenil Valarivan, Trisha Mukherjee and Meghana Sajjanar bagged the gold with a total score of 1193 to pip Russia by five points to take the gold.
In the individual event, Czech Republic’s Gabriela Vognarova got the better of the Indian duo of Valarivan and Sajjanar to bag the gold with a final score of 249.4 with the Indian’s managing to clinch the silver and bronze.
Valrivan, who had scored a perfect 400/400 in the qualifying rounds, could not conjure the same magic in the finals and finished third with a score of 226.5 while Sajjanar could not overturn a big deficit despite shooting a 10.5 and 10.4 in the final two shots to bag the silver.
Earlier, the men’s 10m Air Pistol team had won the team gold.
