Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday hinted that the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government was using the Jana Sena to hatch a conspiracy against his Telugu Desam Party, PTI reported. On Wednesday, Jana Sena president Pawan Kalyan had made corruption allegations against Naidu and his son Lokesh Naidu.

Kalyan had made the allegations on his party’s fourth anniversary on Wednesday. “Andhra Pradesh post-bifurcation has become the number one state in corruption,” Kalyan had said. “The chief minister and Opposition leader Jagan Mohan Reddy are scared of the central government, fearing CBI cases against them. Corrupt people are scared but people like me and the common man are not scared of the government of India.”

Kalyan’s party had supported the Telugu Desam Party-BJP alliance in the general elections in 2014. “I supported the TDP because I wanted development in my state and to rebuild it after the bifurcation. But today I don’t believe them,” he added.

The chief minister and his party’s leaders refuted the allegations of corruption as baseless and said that Kalyan had become a pawn in the conspiracy. Chandrababu Naidu said Kalyan was reading a “New Delhi script” and that the “Tamil Nadu-type dramas” could not be played in Andhra Pradesh. The Telugu Desam Party leader was referring to Tamil Nadu’s recent unstable political scenario.

The chief minister said: “There is a strong anti-Modi and anti-Bharatiya Janata Party feeling across the country. Uttar Pradesh and Bihar bye-poll results are an example of that.”
