Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should explain why the alleged leak of the examination paper of the Staff Selection Commission occurred under his watch.
Without referring to the prime minister, Gandhi said: “The SSC scam happened right under his nose. Saheb should explain why he tried to cover it up.”
The Staff Selection Commission conducts exams for recruitment in the central government.
Gandhi also attacked the government on other matters, including unemployment in the country and Madhya Pradesh’s Vyapam scam. He said the government had not fulfilled its promise of providing two crore jobs every year and accused it of playing with the future of the youth of India.
“Are only rich people entitled to employment?” the Congress president said. “Stop playing with the future of the youth.”
On March 5, the government had ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry into the alleged leak of a question paper of the Combined Graduate Level Tier II examination. Candidates have been protesting outside the Staff Selection Commission’s office since the paper allegedly leaked on social media on February 21.
