Few people will miss Stephen Hawking more than those at Cambridge University, where he studied and taught. The emotional tribute above in the form of a video is an eloquent testimony to his association with the university and the town of Cambridge.
It includes a photo montage of Hawking, covering the time he spent as a student at the university where he earned his Ph D in 1965. He went on to hold the position of Lucasian Professor of Mathematics from 1979 to 2009, a position once held by Isaac Newton. The audio comprises remarks made by Hawking at the university on his 75th birthday.
This is where Hawking famously says, “Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see and what makes the universe exist. Be curious. And however difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at”.
