A day after losing 2-1 to the hosts, India bounced back convincingly to clinch the five-match series against South Korea at home. Rani Rampal and Co notched a comfortable 3-1 in the penultimate match against Korea on Friday to take an unassailable 3-1 lead in the series.
The first goal came as early as the second minute with India successfully converting a penalty corner. Gurjit Kaur was the scorer giving India the early advantage. There was no looking back from then as India scored another goal in the first quarter.
Doubling the lead in the 14th minute, Deepika found the back of the net to ensure India finished the first quarter with their noses ahead. The next quarter went by without a goal as India headed into half time with a comfortable lead.
But the best goal of the match came in the third quarter as India extended their lead courtesy a brilliant field goal by Poonam Rani. She scored off Vandana’s pass in the 47th minute to send the ball home.
South Korea’s lone goal came in the 57th with Mi Hyun Park getting on the scorecard. But it wasn’t enough as Rani Rampal and Co ensured a series win with a match still to go.
The fifth and final match will be on March 11.
