In bid to avoid conflict of interest controversy, Rahul Dravid has sought clarification from the BCCI with regards to his involvement in the newly-built Padukone-Dravid Centre for Sport Excellence in Bengaluru, The Times of India reported.
In a letter sent to the board in January, the former India captain and India U-19 coach has voluntarily disclosed his association with the centre in question but claims he does not have an ownership stake, the report added.
“Dravid has voluntarily disclosed and clarified that the centre would bear his name, but he has no ownership interest in the company or in any of the academies run by it,” a top BCCI official has been cited as saying.
Last year, Dravid was forced to step down as coach of IPL franchise Delhi Daredevils due to conflict of interest.
Dravid has been designated as the co-chairman in the advisory board of the centre.
The matter has since been brought to the notice of the Committee of Administrators. However, clarity will not be readily available for Dravid as an Ombudsman, who will is tasked to take calls on cases of conflict of interest has not been appointed so far, the report stated.
The centre operates academies in six disciplines - badminton, cricket, tennis, squash, football and swimming. Olympic gold medallist Abhinav Bindra to is associated with the centre and heads its sports sciences wing.
