Vijay Deverakonda, the star of the 2017 Telugu hit Arjun Reddy, will play the read in Anand Shankar’s bilingual NOTA. Deverakonda shared the first look poster of the film on March 8. NOTA is being shot in Tamil and Telugu.
While no details have been given about the project, the poster shows Deverakonda’s character showing an inked middle finger. That and the title, which stands for None of the Above, an option that allows the electorate to participate in the voting process but not choose any candidate, suggest that the movie will be a political drama.
Speaking to Firstpost, Shankar said that NOTA would not be a romance like his popular films Pelli Choopulu (2016) and Arjun Reddy, but an “intense drama.” Mehreen Pirzada has been roped in to play the heroine. Sam CS of Vikram Vedha (2017) is composing the music. Santhana Krishnan is the cinematographer.
Shankar has previously directed the 2014 thriller Arima Nambi, and the 2016 science-fiction action film Iru Mugan, starring Vikram.
Deverakonda will also be seen in Nag Ashwin’s Mahanti, a biopic on actress Savitri, which is being shot in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu. Deverakonda is reportedly playing the role of Telugu actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao in the film.
