The first trailer for a new adaptation of Dr Suess’s popular character Grinch is out. Benedict Cumberbatch voices the anti-hero who hates Christmas and tries to ruin the festival for the residents of Whoville. The animated movie, directed by Peter Candeland and Yarrow Cheney (The Secret Life of Pets), will be released on November 9.

Dr Suess’s verse-based book How the Grinch Stole Christmas! was adapted as an animated television film in 1966 and a live-action feature starring Jim Carrey in 2000. The latest adaptation has been produced by Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment (the producer of the Despicable Me and Minions movies).

The trailer reveals the Grinch’s morning routine, including coffee prepared by his loyal dog Max, a wardrobe marked with such labels as “Miserable”, “Very Miserable” and “Nasty”, a trip to the local supermarket, and an encounter with an inflatable snowman.
