Archie, Betty, Reggie, Moose and Jughead are coming to Bollywood. Archie Comics has teamed up with the Mumbai-headquartered Graphic India to produce a live-action Bollywood film. The film will place the classic Archie Comics characters in an Indian context.
“We are supremely excited to partner with the great team at Graphic India to bring Archie and his friends to Bollywood,” said Archie Comics CEO Jon Goldwater. “Archie’s lasting and growing presence in India made this move the logical next step as our stellar library of characters continues to expand into other media. It’s a major moment for Archie and its fans around the world.”
Archie Comics has found success in the live-action television series Riverdale, a dark take on the comic book’s characters and their universe, which is now in its second season. Archie Comics has also teamed up with Netflix to produce a web series based on the character Sabrina.
