Even billionaires have their weaknesses. Turns out Bill Gates’s is shopping at the supermarket.
On The Ellen Show, host Ellen DeGeneres played a game with billionaire Bill Gates called “Bill’s Grocery Bills”. The objective was to correctly guess the price of at least three out of five supermarket products, within a range of one dollar. If Gates could do it, the audience would win a prize.
The items included average, everyday American products, from Tide pods to pizza rolls, but Gates couldn’t get any of them right. Admittedly, in a swipe-and-pay shopping set-up, we don’t often know the individual prices of the products we buy, but DeGeneres wasn’t having any of it. “When was the last time you were at the supermarket?” she asked Gates.
Eager to win their prize, the audience prompted Gates so that he could get the prices right. Eventually.
