“What you see is not what you see,” says the cryptic teaser that Netflix recently released to announce its upcoming original series, The Innocents. The supernatural teen drama is scheduled to be released on the online streaming platform some time this year.
The Innocents chronicles the story of two teenagers who run away from their homes to be together, but find that nothing is as it seems. What follows is an “extraordinary journey of self-discovery that derails their innocent dream”, reads the synopsis of the series. “Secrets kept from them by their respective parents test their love to breaking point, and the extraordinary gift they possess unleashes powerful forces intent on dividing them forever.”
The series stars Guy Pearce, Sorcha Groundsell, and Percelle Ascott. The first season will have eight episodes. The series has been created by Hania Elkington and Simon Duric.
