Top seed Vaishnavi Reddy on Sunday beat France’s Marion Le Turdu to win the Spanish Junior badminton title.
Vaishnavi trounced the unseeded Le Turdu of France 21-9, 21-10 in the final in just 19 minutes. In the semi-finals, she won in straight games against USA’s Ruhi Raju in 20 minutes.
The 15-year-old rising badminton star, ranked fourth in the world junior singles rankings, didn’t drop a game throughout the tournament.
This is Vaishnavi’s first title of the year. She’d lost to compatriot Saili Rane in the Iceland International final in January. In the Iran Fajr International Challenge earlier this month, she went down in three games to Malaysia’s Thinaah Muralitharan in the semi-finals.
Vaishnavi will next play the Swiss Open starting on Tuesday. She is currently placed 72nd in the world in women’s singles.
