Legend has it that the Hindu god Shiva granted king Kavera a boon to defeat Shoorapadma, the demon responsible for drought and suffering, which led to the birth of the river Kaveri (or Cauvery).

This short film narrates the mythological tale of the river, from its birth to its fateful demise. The message couldn’t be more timely, pointing as it does to the plight of the river as it slowly dies at the hands of its own children, who ignore the predicament.

Watched in light of its ongoing dispute between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu over the sharing of the water of the river, this production from Early Man Film has acquired a new topicality. Its simple exhortation: “Let the Kaveri flow.”
