Meet Lucknow’s Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax, Amay Patnaik. He does not beat up goons or flex his muscles, but manages to get the job done. The unlikely hero is played by Ajay Devgn in Raj Kumar Gupta’s Raid, which will be released on March 16.
Set in Lucknow in 1981, Raid traces Patnaik’s quest to bring down the corrupt local strongman, Tauji (Saurabh Shukla), and retrieve ill-gotten cash worth Rs 420 crores from his mansion. The movie, also starring Ileana D’Cruz and Amit Sial, is reportedly inspired by true events.
This is Gupta’s fourth outing after Aamir (2008), No One Killed Jessica (2011) and the 2013 film Ghanchakkar. The movie has been written by Ritesh Shah of Airlift (2016) and Pink (2016) fame.
