Steven Spielberg will shoot the next Indiana Jones film before working on his remake of the 1957 Broadway musical West Side Story, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The director reportedly aims to shoot the fifth installment of his franchise in 2019 and release it in 2020.

The Indiana Jones franchise features Harrison Ford as the Dr Henry Walton “Indiana” Jones, Jr, a fictional archaeology professor who travels the world in search of lost relics and treasures. Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) was the first film in the series. The fourth installment of the franchise, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, was released in 2008 and was the last movie of the series under the Paramount Pictures banner. The series has been created by George Lucas and the fifth instalment will be produced by Walt Disney, which bought over Lucasfilm in 2012.
