Typical parental despair is chased away when a father goes beyond the textbook in the Telugu short film Gurukulam The School.
Impoverished villager Ramudu (Rajiv Kanakala) repairs bicycle tyres to eke out a living for his family. Full of repentance for having ignored his father’s instructions to study, Ramudu hopes that his two sons will excel in school and make a better life for themselves. His aspirations get dented when his elder son’s teacher approaches him with a complaint, but Ramudu is gently reminded that marks in school are not essentially an indicator of a child’s intellectual acumen.
Produced by Arka Media Works, Gurukulam The School has been directed by Shivakumar BVR, colourist for SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali films. The short film can be viewed on Arka’s YouTube channel.
