American talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, known for commenting on odd and bizarre stories in the media, brought up selfie-related deaths in India recently. This time, it might not be very funny.

To support this contention that India has the highest number of selfie-related deaths in the world, Kimmel spoke of the case of T. Shiva. In a video shot senselessly and near-tragically by Shiva himself, what we can see is a very, very close encounter with death.

Poking fun at this unfortunate and utterly imprudent act, Kimmel averred he had managed to get Shiva to speak with him. Of course he hadn’t, and somehow, this near tragedy isn’t really amusing even in Kimmel’s version.
