Indian comedy shows on television have several reasons for being annoying, but stand-up comic Sahil Shah has pinpointed a particular one that stands out: the sound effects (video above). And now that he’s told us, we can’t unhear them.
“The one thing that really irritates me about Indian comedy – it’s that after every joke we have to put a sound effect. It is so irritating. After every joke,” said the comic from East India Comedy. What’s worse, he pointed out, these sound effects are often racist, since they vary depending on which part of the country a person is from.
Mimicking most of them, Shah made some suggestions for alternatives as well.
