“The torture that a man is willing to bear for his nation, a woman too, can bear,” says Shraddha Pandit (Juhi Chawla), the minister of defence, in the trailer for Vinay Waikul and Nagesh Kukunoor’s web series The Test Case. “Captain Shikha Sharma will be our test case for this.”
Played by Nimrat Kaur, Shikha Sharma is the only woman to be enrolled in the Special Forces Training Centre. She dreams of becoming the first female commandant of the force. As the trailer reveals, Kaur’s character has to not only prepare to fight the enemy across the border but also numerous naysayers within the army – from peers to training officers – who believe a woman isn’t tough enough to be in the army.
“This is my story sir,” Sharma says. “And there is only one hero in this story and that’s me.”
