Shashanka Ghosh’s Veere Di Wedding will be released on June 1 instead of May 18, producer Ekta Kapoor announced on Twitter on Friday. Touted as a “female buddy comedy”, the film features Kareena Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar, and Shikha Talsania in the lead roles. Permanent Roommates actor Sumeet Vyas will be playing Kapoor Khan’s love interest in the film.
The first poster was released in October, and featured all the actresses clad in male wedding attire. Co-produced by Rhea Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor and Nikhil Dwivedi, the film chronicles the story of four friends attending a wedding together.
The production of Veere Di Wedding was reportedly delayed due to Kapoor’s pregnancy. “When producers drop actresses for any reason, Rhea waited for me to come back,” she had said last year. “That speaks highly of her and the kind of girlbonding film we’re making.” The actress last appeared in Abhishek Chaubey’s Udta Punjab (2016).
