The honour roll of bizarre categories of world records is a gift that keeps on giving. Why, just the other day, a man named Kevin Strahle, who goes by the title LA Beast, claimed to have broken the record for eating the largest number of butter sticks in a short span of time.
The competitive eater that he is, Strahle posted a video as evidence of his feat, and included a link to the previous record. This was accomplished by a man named Don “Moses” Lerman, who set the record by finishing seven quarter-pound sticks of salted butter in five minutes – back in 2002. A veteran in the field, Lerman is known for setting several records for eating burgers, butter, beans, and bologna.
Strahle beat that record by eating eight quarter-pound sticks in three minutes and 16 seconds. It was a truly disgusting sight to watch, but a world record is a world record, right?
Strahle has been included in the Guinness Book of World Records before, when he set two other speed-eating record titles in May, 2017. The first was for the most chicken nuggets consumed in three minutes – 642.12 gm – and the second, for wolfing down the largest quantity of the super-hot Bhut Jolokia peppers in two minutes – 121.9 gm!
“Please do not try anything I do at home,” he says. Frankly, we’d rather not.
