Mammootty-starrer Peranbu will have its world premiere at the fourth International Film Festival of Rotterdam on January 27. The Tamil-Malayalam bilingual has been included in the House on Fire section that showcases Tamil cinema.
Peranbu, directed by Ram (who made the 2017 sleeper hit Taramani), also stars actors from Tamil and Malayalam cinema, including Anjali, Ameer, Samuthirakani and Vadivukkarasi, among others. Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed the music while National Award winner A Sreekar Prasad is the editor. The movie will have its theatrical release in India this summer.
Mammootty has a series of releases lined up in 2018 that include Shamdat Zainudheen’s Street Lights, Sharrath Sandith’s Parole, and Gireesh’s Uncle. Street Lights, also a Tamil-Malayalam bilingual project, is scheduled for a January 26 release.
Ram’s Taramani will also have its international premiere at the Rotterdam festival. Other movies in the House on Fire section on Tamil Nadu cinema include Karthik Subbaraj’s Jigarthanda (2014), Durai Senthilkumar’s Kodi (2016) and Bala’s Naan Kadavul (2009).
