What do you do if you’re the prime minister of a country and want to avoid questions from the media? If you’re the prime minister of Thailand, you place a life-sized cardboard cut-out of yourself behind the microphone and walk off.
Thai PM Prayuth Chan-ocha decided to evade questions by the Press, telling them, “If anyone wants to ask any questions on politics or conflicts, ask this guy. Bye-bye.” As the puzzled audience awkwardly laughed in response, the PM just waved and, a little more absurdly, flashed the rocker “devil horns” with his hands as he left.
The baffled reporters took the opportunity to take photos with the cut-out. They had been waiting to ask him questions about pressing issues such as political turmoil, elections, arrests of protesters, and more, but were left with just a two-dimensional PM instead.
