Aditya Vikram Sengupta’s second film, the Bengali drama Jonaki, will have its world premiere at the 47th International Film Festival Rotterdam.
Jonaki starts Lolita Chatterjee, Jim Sarbh and Ratnabali Bhattacharjee in lead roles. The film looks at the life of an 80-year-old woman, played by Chatterjee, who longs for love in a world in which memories have begun to decay.
Sengupta’s first film, Asha Jaoar Majhe (Labour of Love, 2014), was a success across international film fesitvals, winning 12 awards. It also won two national film awards in 2015, including the Golden Lotus award for Best First Film of a Director.
