Maharashtra’s paddlers reigned supreme in the 11SPORTS 63rd National School Games Table Tennis Team Championships, picking up three gold medals and one silver in Vadodara on Saturday.

Their Under-19 boys and girls teams had it fairly easy, downing Delhi and West Bengal with identical 3-1 margins. The Under-14 girls, however, had to dig deep to get the better of West Bengal 3-2 while their Under-17 Boys capitulated 1-3 to a superior Gujarat.

Raegan Reuel was the star for Maharashtra, winning both his singles to set up the victory in the Under-19 final. He easily beat Shivjit Singh Lamba 3-0 12-10, 11-9, 11-7 but had to fight for his 9-11, 11-6, 10-12, 11-6, 11-8 win against Shubh Goel.

Sanat Bokil returned from a 0-2 deficit to overcome Kashish Bhargava 11-8, 12-14, 11-7, 11-13, 11-6 to clinch the crucial third point.

The Maharashtra girls u-19 team

Srushti Haleangadi was Maharashtra’s key player in the Under-19 girls final, sealing her two matches. She first beat Tulika Roy 11-4, 11-3, 10-12, 11-4 and then Premangi Ghosh 3-1 11-6, 7-11, 11-7, 11-9 to guide her team home.

Shreya Deshpande took care of the other point, thumping Premangi Ghosh 3-0 11-2, 12-10, 11-7.
