Will they stop at nothing? They can already mimic humans, exercise (and break a sweat while they’re at it), pole dance, and serve as waiters. Now, it turns out they can even even make pizza. And not just any old pizza, but the original Italian version, as made by one of Italy’s top chefs.
A group of engineers from the University of Naples Federico II and Prisma Lab has been developing this robot. Named RoDyMan – for Robotic Dynamic Manipulation – the robot has learnt by precision-copying the actions of the famous chef Enzo Coccia, who had to wear a bio kinetic sensitised suit so that the robot could memorise his movements.
Still a work in progress, the project is expected to be completed in 2019. Fun fact: this video won the second prize in the first ever robotics contest in Italy organised by the IEEE Robotics & Automation Society, Italian Chapter.
