Four officials of the Mathura district jail in Uttar Pradesh were suspended after three undertrial prisoners jumped over the prison wall and escaped.
The three inmates – Shera, Sanjay and Baldev – escaped around 2 am from the youth barracks, an unidentified official told IANS. The fourth prisoner, Rahul, injured himself while jumping from the wall and was caught. The police are now interrogating him.
This is not the first time prisoners broke out of this jail. In 2010, four prisoners escaped by scaling the boundary wall with the help of a saree. Seven prison officials were suspended then.
