Popular messaging service WhatsApp suffered a global outage for an hour on New Year’s Eve before the problem was fixed, Reuters reported.
In India, which has around 200 million of the app’s billion-plus users, it was down for a few minutes soon after midnight, as people exchanged greetings. The cause of the outage was not clear.
A spokesperson for the service confirmed the outage: “WhatsApp users around the world experienced a brief outage today that has now been resolved.”
