Six people, including the pilot of a seaplane, died after it crashed into a river near Sydney in Australia on Sunday, BBC reported. The reason for the crash is not yet known.
The plane crashed into the Hawkesbury River, about 50 km north of Sydney. Police divers recovered the bodies and the plane from around 13 metres below the water surface, the police said.
Police have not yet released the identities of those killed, but 7News Sydney reported that all passengers were British. The aircraft belonged to the scenic flight company Sydney Seaplanes.
An eyewitness, Myles Baptiste, said the plane was 500 metres from him when it hit the water. “It made a tight right-hand turn and as it actually turned around, the wings dipped and it nosedived straight into the water,” he said.
