Hey Jude
The Beatles
Everyone has songs that they listen to whenever they feel extreme highs or extreme lows. Hey Jude is that one song for me, which works as a double agent. No other song heightens my elation or picks me up from a hard day like this one. As one year is ending and another year is approaching, no other song rings as true as this one. “Take a sad song and make it better” for all the bad days and “Don’t be afraid...you were made to go out and get her”.
That is how I’d like to start 2018. – Sruthi Ganapathy Raman
Maybe I’m Amazed
Paul McCartney and Wings
I was 15 when I first heard Maybe I’m Amazed by Wings, the band started by Paul McCartney after the Beatles split up. It grew on me so intensely that I began listening to it on loop. I even asked my younger brother, who is a guitarist, to learn to play it. It’s the song that reminds me of my English literature classes, my basketball and swimming matches. It’s my go-to song end of the day and calms my nerves. – Bibhash Chatterjee
