India on Friday criticised Palestine after its ambassador to Pakistan shared a platform with Mumbai terror attack mastermind and Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed at a rally in Rawalpindi, PTI reported.
“We are taking up the matter strongly with the Palestinian ambassador in New Delhi and with the Palestinian authorities,” External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said.
Palestinian ambassador in Islamabad Walid Abu Ali attended an event organised by the Difa-e-Pakistan Council in Rawalpindi’s Liaqat Bagh on Friday. The council is a coalition of Pakistani Islamic parties, including Saeed’s Jamaat-ud-Dawa.
The development comes a week after India voted against the United States’ move to recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital at the United Nations.
At the rally, Saeed, a United Nations-designated terrorist, made speeches against India and the United States, and even made references to Kashmir and former Indian naval officer Kulbhushan Jadhav, News18 reported.
On December 2, Saeed confirmed the launch of his new political party, the Milli Muslim League, and said it will contest the general elections in Pakistan. He had said that the decision to enter politics was to highlight “the Kashmir cause internationally”. Saeed made the announcement after he was freed from house arrest on November 24.
