The income tax department on Wednesday searched six premises linked to ousted All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader VK Sasikala and her relatives at multiple locations in Tamil Nadu.
The premises being searched include those of Midas Distilleries and Sai Group of Companies near Chennai, the home of Sasikala’s relative Karthikeyan Kaliaperumal in the city’s Adyar area, a college in Coimbatore city and its treasurer’s house, The Times of India reported.
“We have received fresh leads about unaccounted investments by the family members in some of the group companies,” a senior tax department official was quoted as saying. The official said the raids were a continuation of the searches that were held in these places in November.
In November, the income tax department had conducted raids across 187 locations connected with Sasikala and her relatives. Officials had then claimed that they found Rs 1,430 crore in unaccounted investments during the raids.
