Parts of the suburban train network in Chennai were affected after two coaches of a train derailed at Avadi station on Tuesday night, The Hindu reported.
The incident occurred at 11.25 pm and no one was hurt as the train, which was travelling from the Moore Market Complex station to Pattabiram, was empty. The first coach was put back on the tracks at 2.20 am and the second coach an hour later, the Railways said.
Tracks were restored on one part of the route and some special trains were being operated from Moore Market Complex every 30 minutes. Services are expected to gradually get back to normal as the day progresses, NDTV reported.
