The Chennai party office of MGR Amma Deepa Peravai, headed by Deepa Jayakumar, the niece of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, was allegedly damaged after some unidentified persons pelted stones a little after midnight on Monday, PTI reported.
Jayakumar told reporters that the incident took place around 12.30 am in Chennai’s T Nagar. The police said they have inspected the area and are trying to find out who was behind the attack. In her police complaint, Jayakumar said she suspected the attackers were people she knew.
Jayakumar and her husband Madhavan had launched Peravai on February 24, on the birth anniversary of Jayalalithaa. Two months later, Madhavan floated a new political party, alleging a “dominance of evil forces” in the one he ran with his wife.
