Two men have been arrested for allegedly abducting a 19-year-old woman from Gurugram and sexually assaulting her, the Hindustan Times reported on Tuesday.
The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday night when the woman, who works at a mall in Gurugram, was on her way back home and got into a cab from the Shiv Chowk area. The cab is contracted by a Business Processing Outsourcing company to drop employees home.
The two accused – the driver and his friend – and another passenger were in the cab when she boarded it, the woman told the police. After the passenger got down near Rajokri border locality, the driver started to take the vehicle to areas near the Delhi-Haryana border, NDTV reported. The driver drove her to an isolated stretch and assaulted her.
The woman told police that she did not protest as the men had threatened to kill her if she shouted for help. The accused later left her outside a metro station in the Dwarka neighbourhood.
The woman later called a few friends and they reported the crime to the police. A medical examination at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital confirmed that she had been raped. “Based on her statement, a case of gangrape and abduction was registered at Dwarka Sector 23 police station,” Dwarka Deputy Commissioner of Police Shibesh Singh told the Hindustan Times.
