Fire service and disaster rapid action force personnel rescued a three-year-old girl from a borewell in Central Odisha’s Angul district on Monday after an over seven-hour operation, PTI reported.
The girl fell into the borewell in Gulasar village around 9 am, and was rescued at 4.45 pm, Fire Services Director General BK Sharma said.
She was shifted to a hospital soon after being rescued and was in a stable condition, the official said, adding that personnel from Bamur and Angul fire stations rescued the girl.
Sharma said on Twitter that a parallel hole about 15 feet deep was dug around 6 feet away from the borewell. The rescue personnel then dug a tunnel connecting the hole to the borewell, and rescued the child. The Angul district administration has ordered an inquiry into the incident.
