Who doesn’t remember the 1990s comedy classic Home Alone? If your love for the film is rekindled every year during Christmas, then this mashup of the film’s soundtrack (video above) will definitely bring back a rush of memories.
Produced by YouTuber Mike Tompkins, it gives a glorious twist to John Williams’s original compositions by performing them a Capella. The myriad of instruments used in the film’s soundtrack by Williams are all recreated by Tompkins with his voice.
But putting this together was not as simple as just singing. Tompkins achieved his effect by layering 400 vocal samples and then video-recording himself in front of a green screen as a representation of each instrument, separately. But the stunning result was worth the extraordinary effort.
