This comedy routine might be one of the most entertaining ways to watch Indian TV serials. Notoriously regressive, many of these shows are not only set in alternate realities where people can come back from the dead, women part-time as snakes, and logic does not exist, but are also brimming with sanskar or morals.
All this is fodder for stand-up comic Punit Pania, who rips into much of the things that make these serials popular with viewers.
The video starts dramatically with familiar music in the background – no points for getting it right – interspersed with the dramatic close-up shots that the serials thrive on. All of it leading up to the punchline: “Pran jaye par sanskar na jaye (You can lose your life, but not your morals).”
