A revival of NBC’s comedy television series The Office is in the works, but without Steve Carrel, according to The Hollywood Reporter. NBC, which also resurrected TV comedy Will and Grace in September, is looking at bringing The Office back in 2018-’19, reported TV Line.

Starring Carell, Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski and Jenna Fischer, the show chronicles the misadventures of employees at the Dunder-Mifflin paper company in Pennsylvania. Carell plays the goofy boss to oddball employees. The revival will reportedly feature a mix of new cast members and familiar faces from the old ensemble, which include Craig Robinson, Ellie Kemper, Mindy Kaling, Ed Helms and BJ Novak.

The Office was adapted for the US by Greg Daniels from Ricky Gervais’s BBC show of the same name. The American version ran for nine seasons from 2005 to 2013, with Daniels serving as the showrunner for the first four seasons. Carell exited the show after the seventh season, but returned for the finale in 2013. The Office received a total of 42 Emmy nominations, winning four awards, including the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series in 2006.

In November 2016, Greg Daniels told The Hollywood Reporter that he was satisfied with how the series ended. “I feel like I did in the finale what that would have been because I jumped forward in time as, like a reunion of the characters, and so, to me, I think that was it,” he had said. “It said everything that the show had to say.”
