SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2 will be released in Japan on December 29, International Business Times reported. The Japanese version of the multilingual period fantasy drama is titled “King’s Triumphant Return”.
Baahubali 2 (2017) is the sequel to Baahubali: The Beginning (2015), which chronicles the journey of Shivudu (Prabhas), who discovers his identity as the heir to the throne of the mythical kingdom Mahishmati. Produced by Arka Media Works, the Baahubali films also feature Rana Daggubati, Ramya Krishna and Sathyaraj. Both films have been blockbusters, with Baahubali 2 reportedly grossing more than Rs 1,700 crores at the global box office.
The movie’s release in Japan is likely to allow its box office collection to exceed that of Aamir Khan-starrer Dangal (2016), which earned more than Rs 1,900 crores worldwide. Baahubali 2 is also likely to be released in China in the coming months.
